First, place some stones on the board. After you do that, you should see a black stone and a white stone.

Next, you can make the squares bigger. That will make it easier to see what's going on.

We can go step by step through the layered building up of the 3D stones effect. First, let's show only the shadow.

Then we can add in the basic colored disk.

To make a highlight, first we draw a circular highlight.

Finally, we draw the original stone color over part of the highlight, to make a crescent shaped highlight.

Now you can make the squares smaller to see the final effect.
