Bullets and shadows
The Pad and Piccolo projects explore zooming user interfaces (or "ZUI"s). Sometimes I make little special purpose ZUIs just to test out specific look-and-feel ideas.

The applet below re-interprets an html file as a zoomable document. The contents are the "slides" of a talk I once gave. The experiment here was to find a way to quickly remind the speaker which topics contain more sub-items.

Instructions:
  • click on a item bullet to zoom in
  • click on left margin to zoom out

What I'm experimenting with:
  • items with no children have hollow bullets;
  • items with many descendents cast larger shadows.
