Illumination model

Two main components:

• light source characteristics
  • position
  • intensity for each freq. (color)often, different intensity can be specified for different colors
  • directional distribution
• surface properties
  • reflectance for each freq. (color)
  • different reflectance can be specified for diffuse and specular light
