Prerequisites

No  prior knowledge of computer graphics is required. Basic linear algebra and calculus will be assumed. We do assume solid programming skills in  UNIX or Windows  environments in  C or C++.  C++ is strongly preferred.

Grading

There will be regular  written and  programming assignments. The programming assignments will count approximately 80% and the written assignments for 20% of the final grade.  There will be no midterm or final.

Late policy

The penalties for turning in assignments after the deadline are as follows:     If you need an extension you have to contact the instructor in advance. Extensions will not be granted on the last day,  unless there are unexpected circumstances beyond your control.

Grading of programming assignments

Up to 30% of the grade may depend on the quality of your code. We expect you to follow the guidlines of the style guide  (html , postscript).

We expect your program not to crush without proper diagnostics.  You are allowed to have assertion failures, you are not allowed to simply crash. If your code crashes, you will lose 50% of the points on that assignment.  Examples of disallowed behavior: "Segmentation fault", "Bus error" under UNIX,  "The memory could not be read/written", under Windows.
