Interpolating Subdivision
Below you can see a collection of pictures from our paper Interpolating subdivision for meshes of arbitrary topology (D. Zorin, W. Sweldens, P. Schröder, SIGGRAPH 96.) The main result of our work is a simple modification of the Butterfly scheme of Gregory, Dyn and Levin around vertices of valence not equal to 6. It combats the cusp-like artifacts exhibited by the unmodified scheme in those circumstances.
